Some of the best body painters in the world turned out for the North American Body Paint Championship held here in Las Vegas over the weekend. Names like Mark Reid and Skin City Bodypaint were there creating art on models for the grand prize of $24,000 That would buy a lot of paint!
Here are some of the entries…

Ever wonder what goes into creating something like this? The model must stand there for up to 6 hours while being painted. They need to be carful not to move while the artist is working or the design may get ruined. After all that time standing there being painted, they then have to another hour or two of photo shoots to do. And the day’s not over yet, after the photo shoots are done it’s time to take the stage and display the work to the audience.
Here is a short video of one of the models being painted and then on stage.

Another talented Las Vegas Artist I have the pleasure of working with from time to time is Robin Barcus of Skin City Body Painting. She can turn a normal human being into a work of art.

Robin is a multi talented artist meaning she not only does body painting, she also designs her own dresses, paints murals, she can turn just about anything or anyone into art.
And now it appears that her work is being recognized in Europe too. Here is a magazine we found from Romania that features Robin and her State Of Dress Project as well as one of my shots of Robin wearing the Poker Chip Dress that represents Nevada. This is a 5 page spread that also includes some of her work turning everyday objects into wearable art.
